GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Conducts procedures and assignments as prescribed by study protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, and Good Laboratory Practice Regulations. Performs advanced laboratory animal research procedures in addition to general procedures such as dosing, body weights, food consumption, observations and necropsy. Compiles data and prepares study related forms.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assists the Study Director and independently conducts experimental procedures as assigned.
  2. Under the guidance of the Study Director performs all required experimental procedures in accordance with appropriate protocols, GLP's and SOP's.
  3. Assist Study Director in protocol development, employee training, analysis of data and report writing.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
  1. A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with a focus on Biological Sciences is required with at least 3 years of industry related experience.
  2. Basic understanding of medical biology and familiarity with the demands of preclinical testing as it applies to outsourcing requirements.
  3. Knowledge of basic Good Laboratory Practices
  4. Demonstrated skills in basic laboratory techniques and animal research.
  5. Ability to apply mathematical concepts for determination of various factors relating to study designs and dose level determinations.
  6. Able to understand and comply with laboratory safety standards.
  7. Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
  8. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, and Internet.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing job duties, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, visually observe and listen for an extended period of time. The employee is often required to use hands to perform basic laboratory operations, lift moderate weight, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
