Report to and assist the Director of Toxicology and Facilities Manager with coordinating study design, implementation and conduct.
GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Manage the daily operations of the Toxicology departmental resources, technical team and support activities necessary to perform study related tasks. Responsible for coordinating the department operations in such areas as animal care, study performance, facility maintenance, environmental monitoring, and preventative maintenance.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist in the design and implementation of various processes to ensure adherence to regulatory compliance standards.
  2. Implements the conduct of studies according to written protocols and Standard Operating Procedures.
  3. Supervise and train laboratory animal technicians in order to achieve departmental objectives.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
  1. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with a focus on Biological Sciences is required with at least 10 years of industry related experience.
  2. Basic understanding of medical biology and familiarity with the demands of preclinical testing as it applies to outsourcing requirements.
  3. Extensive knowledge of basic Good Laboratory Practices.
  4. Demonstrated skills in laboratory techniques and animal research.
  5. Ability to apply mathematical concepts for determination of various factors relating to study designs and dose level determinations.
  6. Effective management skills for laboratory operations.
  7. Able to understand and comply with laboratory safety standards.
  8. Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
  9. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, and Internet
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing job duties, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, visually observe and listen for an extended period of time. The employee is often required to use hands to perform basic laboratory operations, lift moderate weight, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
